Retail sales analyst Jacob Mazel of vgchartz has posted his predictions for 2008 sales based on the first quarter. Mazel expects PS3 sales to end up around 12.5 million for 2008 (up from 7.6 million in 2007) and Xbox360 sales to end around 11.0 million for 2008 (up from 8.1 million in 2007).
Sony are set to hit their (seemingly ambitious) shipment targets for the financial year ending March 2008 when results are announced in a couple of weeks. Using vgchartz sell-through data, Sony have sold approximately 8.7 million PS3s in the last financial year, comparing favourably with their shipment target of 9.5 million.
